Head of Institutional Sales – Digital Asset Derivatives – Hong Kong
GFO-X is seeking a Head of Institutional Sales to join our growing team in Hong Kong. In this role, you will develop and drive key institutional relationships with GFO-X participants, including global Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, Proprietary Trading Groups, Family Offices, and a range of crypto native groups. You will need a hands-on approach to sales and relationship management, which involves overseas travel, conference attendance, and client entertainment. Based in Hong Kong, the ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, a keen interest in digital assets, and a disciplined approach to sales and client relationship management. A deep understanding of futures and options trading and settlement processes, as well as knowledge of derivative products, is advantageous. You will liaise with internal departments, including Compliance, Operations, Trade Surveillance, Finance, and Risk, and interact with external clients and vendors. As part of the Sales & Membership team, you will manage and grow existing client relationships and develop a pipeline of new prospects. Role: Work directly with the wider GFO-X global sales team and the Chief Commercial Officer to source and onboard clients to the venue. Market directly to end clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, banks, and proprietary trading firms, to generate trading volume. Manage a portfolio of live clients to increase and diversify volumes and revenues. Partner with sales teams at clearing members to generate interest from their existing client base, participating in co-marketing, education, and roadshows. Develop an understanding of market-making strategies, working with liquidity providers to optimise liquidity on the venue. Represent GFO-X at industry conferences and events in both the tradfi and crypto native spaces across Europe, becoming an expert in and well-connected within the digital asset trading ecosystem, with a focus on market structure in order to articulate the GFO-X offering in a competitive context. Contribute to marketing collaterals and the website to position the GFO-X offering optimally to clients and partners. This will necessitate staying abreast of crypto market developments, participating in industry conferences, and networking within the crypto-native financial ecosystem. Gather market feedback to feed into the product strategy roadmap and ensure the product offering is meeting current and future market needs. Requirements: At least 10+ years’ experience in a client-facing role at a financial firm dealing with buy-side clients in a derivatives context, ideally a Tier 1 investment bank or regulated exchange. Degree holder with strong academic results. Deep knowledge of financial products, including equities, commodities, bonds, and derivatives. Understanding of the cleared derivatives market across one or more asset classes, including equities, commodities, fixed income, or digital assets. Exposure to institutional-grade exchange platforms such as CME, Eurex, and ICE. A keen interest in digital assets and the surrounding traded market ecosystem. Strong organisational skills with a strategic mindset. Experience with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems . Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. Strong communication skills and fluent spoken and written English and Mandarin are essential for this role. This role is based in our Hong Kong office.
